Thursday? I think that's the third time in a row. In Irish, the TH in think, that's, the and third becomes a T or D with the tongue on the back of the top teeth.
Three minutes. Four steps. One new sound.
Each lesson teaches a single swap, the way a dialect coach would teach an actor. Then you get to use it on something silly.

How to read a swapjaw line.
Actors learn accents from dialect coaches, who skip the theory and drill the few sounds that change. We put those changes right on the words.
- 1The respelling
Read it like normal English and you're most of the way there. “Think” becomes “tink.”
- 2The real sound
IPA underneath, the alphabet coaches use. No need to study it. It sinks in while you play.
- 3What you'd normally say
The American sound it replaces, crossed out in pink, so you can feel the difference.
- 4One glow at a time
Only the swap you're learning lights up. Everything else waits its turn.
Famous lines. Wrong accent.
Once you've got a few swaps down, take them for a spin on the classics. Tap play, then do your best Maeve.
I'm the king of the world!
Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

Laugh with the accent, never at the people.
The jokes come from everyday life: the group chat, the self-checkout, the smart speaker that only listens when it feels like it. Never from the people who actually speak the accent.
So no drinking jokes, no fighting jokes, and absolutely no leprechauns.
- Free, nothing locked
- No account needed
- Never grades your voice
- 3 to 5 minutes a lesson
Fair questions.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every lesson, every line, every famous movie quote. Nothing is locked and there's nothing to upgrade to.
Do I need an account?
No. If you want a streak and a checklist, switch on tracking in the app. It saves to your browser on this device and nowhere else.
Does it record my voice?
Never. You say the lines out loud and judge by ear, like a rehearsal. swapjaw doesn't ask for your microphone at all.
What are the little symbols under the words?
That's IPA, the phonetic alphabet dialect coaches use. You don't need to learn it. The respelling on top does the heavy lifting, and the symbols sink in over time.
Who's doing the voices?
Maeve does the Irish, Emily the British, Isla the Australian, and Kore does the South African and the American comparisons. All synthetic voices, picked after a lot of listening and checked clip by clip.
Will I sound authentically Irish?
You'll sound like someone who's been paying attention, which is the whole party trick. A real dialect coach would still have notes.
